I need to look at my 2005 115 and see if the numbers on on the engine block somewhere.
Yamaha outboards manufactured between 1984-2004: you must first locate the Model Number located on a label on the outboard’s transom bracket. The top number is the model number. What you are looking for is the last letter in that model number. Once you have that letter, use the chart below to identify the year of your engine. Hi All, I have an Evinrude outboard motor that is missing the model number plate. Unfortunately, I also do not know the exact horsepower - it is either a 9.5 or 9.9. The year may be 1973 but even that is uncertain. The only numbers that I can find stamped near the motor's transom mount are 3042 followed by 14268.
To find an exact anwser to your question is important to know the brand of your outboard motor, horse power (h.p.) and ehether is a two stroke or four stroke.
Look for a little plate on the motor' mounting bracket or also at the crankcase stamped (earlier outboard models)
